Lab Capping Solutions

Automating vial capping, decapping, and recapping are crucial in liquid handling often overlooked. Zinsser offers precise capping solutions for labs, enabling full process automation to save time and reduce the risk of injuries.

At the core is Zinsser's decapper/recapper system, seamlessly integrated onto your liquid handling deck. Powered by a high-torque motor, it ensures a secure grip on vials through our robotic gripper, with a separate gripper for screw caps, ensuring a seamless process.

The system, available in single and double vial configurations, even integrates a barcode scanner for quick and accurate capping process scanning, boosting throughput. Moreover, it easily handles vials of different sizes.

The Zinsser system can handle various flavors of automated capping and decapping tasks.

  • Starting with capped vials: Introduce a capped vial, remove the cap, conduct additional operations like adding liquid or powder, then reseal the vial.
  • Starting with uncapped vials and ending with capped vials: Complete all processes first, then cap the vial as the final step using a separate cap rack and robot gripper.
  • Starting with capped vials and ending with uncapped vials: Typically used when the source vial is disposable. The robot gripper brings a capped vial, removes the cap, discards it, and prepares the vial for processing.

Automating capping and decapping is advantageous, but throughput is limited as each vial is processed individually. Zinsser's 4-channel and 8-channel capper/decapper tools address this by enabling simultaneous processing, a unique capability enhancing throughput.

Vial Crimping

In lab automation, precision in sealing goes beyond traditional methods. Zinsser provides reliable automated crimping solutions, ensuring consistent airtight seals that surpass manual methods. Integrated seamlessly into workflows, our crimping solutions enhance reliability, securing a separate position on the workbench.

Our automated crimping system handles various cap sizes (8mm to 20mm) on one machine, utilizing a distinct rail mechanism for precise execution. For larger quantities, the bowlfeeder efficiently manages supply, while a cap rack suits smaller quantities. The integrated waste container ensures direct disposal, maintaining a tidy workspace.

Vial Decrimping

Zinsser introduces automated decrimping solutions that work alongside our crimping capabilities. A robot arm places a vial on the rail beneath the decrimper, initiating the process. As the rail moves, it loosens the crimped cap. An ultrasonic sensor checks the vial's content before retrieval, ensuring quality. The cantilever arm beneath the decrimper rotates with a collecting bin, releasing the cap. This process ensures a smooth and controlled decrimping operation, enhancing Zinsser's liquid handling efficiency.
