Zinsser’s pH Meter Automation: How Does It Work?

Initially, the selection process involves choosing a pH probe. We have a wide range of tools to choose from depending on what we need. We use a robot gripper to move the probe to where we want to measure. We connect the probe to a small pH meter, as a part of our automated lab systems.

When not in use, we systematically place the pH probe in a designated location on the robot's deck. It stays in a bottle of liquid called a buffer to keep it ready. We also have a machine that cleans and dries the probe between measurements.

If we want to do more with the automated pH meter, we can add a feature to adjust the pH. This feature has two pumps near the robot, one for adding acid and the other for adding base.

When we measure the pH, the software decides if we need to add acid or base to get to the desired pH, which the user sets. We repeat this process until we reach the target pH. If needed, we can use a magnetic stirrer to mix things up after adding acid or base.
